Looking for mentors for primary school students!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rotterdam is looking for mentors (18+) that would like to visit a primary school student on a weekly basis to do fun activities with, in order to support learning skills! Will you help us?
As a “Big” you will be matched to a vulnerable child with whom you meet weekly and build a mentoring relationship. You pick up the child from the classroom during schooltime to do something fun either in school or in the schoolyard. The activities are up to you. For example, you can play outside together, braid each other's hair, play soccer, make music, make each other face paint, make something creative or just play games. The main focus is not on the activity that you do together: The personal attention that you pay to your little friend can make a huge impact. The “Little” can relax, discover new things and boost his or her self-confidence. You inspire your little friend to get the most out of life! With your focused attention and by sharing your knowledge and experience, you contribute to the self-confidence, self-reliance and social skills of the child. How amazing is that? A special experience for both you and the child!
Do you want to participate? Wonderful! You will receive training beforehand and go through a screening process. Once you start working as a Big, we offer you intensive guidance, theme evenings, free tickets and other trainings. It is important that you have good command over the Dutch language and that you are available for the whole school year (2020-2021)!
