Talk: Econometrics Opens Doors
You may know her as supervisor of case studies, bachelor and master theses, and research assistantships. But Professor Robin Lumsdaine has also been a Director at Deutsche Bank, Head of Quantitative Risk Management at the Federal Reserve, Senior Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisors, and currently is on the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board. Her research has covered everything from retirement decisions to bond market volatility, to analysis of an educational intervention among children in Guinea-Bissau. She currently has a large research agenda using large language models to analyze policymakers' communications.
In this talk, Professor Lumsdaine discusses the role econometrics has played throughout her career, both in opening the door to opportunities and providing the confidence to take on new challenges. She'll also share how the encouragement of professors when she was a bachelor student inspires her to similarly encourage future generations.
The talk will take place in Sanders 0-01 on 15 May at 15:00 – 16:00, and will be followed by some free drinks and snacks. All students and staff are welcome!
