Apply for Excellence Programme 2026!

Are you a highly motivated and academically well-performing student? Are you a second-year or higher bachelor or pre-master's student in one of the Econometrics programmes? Then the FAECTOR Excellence Programme, organized in cooperation with the Erasmus School of Economics, might be something for you!

The Excellence Programme is a yearly extracurricular programme that challenges students to apply their econometric knowledge within a subject not treated in the regular curriculum. This is done through guest lectures, workshops and essays. Besides this, the programme is a great way to boost your CV!

This year’s topic is Econometrics and Energy. In a world confronted with accelerating climate change, volatile energy prices, and growing geopolitical dependencies on critical resources, decisive and data-driven action has never been more essential. The global race for renewable capacity, increasing pressure on electricity grids, and major policy shifts toward decarbonisation are reshaping economic and political landscapes at unprecedented speed. This is where our field of Econometrics becomes indispensable. As the foundation of quantitative decision-making in sectors ranging from energy markets to environmental policy, econometrics equips students with the analytical toolkit to evaluate complex systems, forecast risks, and design effective interventions. With this topic, we aim to encourage critical debate and highlight the societal relevance of econometrics in energy policy, market design, and long-term sustainability. By exploring these challenges, students will gain deeper insight into how quantitative methods can support the global transition toward a more secure, efficient, and sustainable energy future.
